With an Old Love, Lamenting and Crying

Dear Marsha,

I had this dream on Thanksgiving morning. There were lots of family issues going on because of the holiday and this dream threw me for a loop amidst the chaos.  If you post it, please don’t use my name because I’m embarrassed about it.  But I would like to have your input.  Here are some background information about my real life that might help in understanding the dream.

The guy in my dream was a guy I only went out with once in my past.  It was many, many years ago, in high school.  I was always secretly in love with this guy back in high school, but we never really dated.  We liked each other as friends, but I think our shyness, and the timing, kept us from being together.  I’ve forgotten about him for the most part.  I’ve since married and have four children. He is also married with children and lives in a different state.  It’s rare (maybe once every two years) that I even think of him, and that’s always because of some reminder that triggered the thought. There’s been nothing recently to bring him to mind.  So out of the blue, I dreamed about him like this.  What is going on?

 Here’s the dream:

I was with my old love. Together, we were watching a big game of some sort.  I had a hoodie on, and he sat next to me with his arm around me, holding me close.  I started intensely telling him I wish we’d gotten together years ago.  I know he is sad for my sadness, and also a little that it didn’t work out for us, but he doesn’t know what to say.  I know he’s thinking of his wife and kids. I know this is the life that he has is the life he chose, and still wants.  I think of my own kids and husband, and know I’d not give them up, either.  I say, “But, I wouldn’t change anything now.”

I want to be perky and happy, so he’ll enjoy being with me.  Especially since I could tell I was making him uncomfortable.  But I start sobbing in grief and can’t stop.  I get up and go to the rest room to pull myself together.  When I come back, determined to keep a happy face, he’s gone.  I can’t find him.

I wake up.

L.L.

Hi L.L., Marsha here!

I won’t even use your real initials, but I’m glad you sent this in.  It’s a great one to look at.
I’ve prayed and believe this is not at all about this guy. Here are some reasons I believe this:

1.       I don’t believe this is a Soul Dream about you desiring this guy.  Remember, a Soul Dream is a dream created from your own Soul, which is your mind, will, and emotions.

a.       your Mind (the paradigm through which you view the world);

b.      your Will (your wants and ambitions);

c.       your Emotions (your love, fears, hurts).

I don’t believe this dream is a Soul dream about you desiring this guy because of the information you have given me of your past, and current situation.  You are NOT still thinking about him a lot.  You are NOT obsessing about him.  Instead, he was in the past.  If this were a Soul dream, there would most likely be some ongoing emotional issues you were having about this guy.

2.       Often, in dreams, a person will be in the dream because of the meaning of his name.  But, since the Lord placed it on your heart to describe the guy in the dream by relationship, not by name (in fact…you never even gave me his name} I believe this dream is not at all about his name.  If it were, the Lord would have placed in you a need to give me his name. The Holy Spirit has a way of putting in our recitations of dreams the part that is important.

Therefore, I believe the guy in the dream is representative of your relationship with him. And, unlike most healthy relationships, I believe the guy represents an unrequited relationship – or to rephrase that:  this is representing relationships that is not what you desire them to be.

Let’s look at the symbols:

Guy secretly in love with from the past – represents an old ‘love’ – probably not representative of a romantic love but of a great desire of your heart. The beloved relationship may be with a mother, father, sibling, (especially since the dream happened at Thanksgiving time – a time of family issues), or a friend.

Never got together with the love – an unrequited desire of your heart

Watching big game – in looking at life

Hoodie on – feelings have been hidden

Crying – grieving over it

He is sad for me and for us – the other person sees the distress in this relationship with you and is sad about it also

Interpretation:

I believe this dream is telling you that you are going through a time of looking at relationship(s) that are unrequited. I believe these may be family relationships, but not necessarily.  It’s saying, once again, you are falling back into a past pattern of grieving desired relationships that aren’t the way you want them. You know the way you want the relationship can’t happen because of circumstances and timing.  Still, you are unhealed and express this desire and pain so intensely that it has made it uncomfortable for those you want the relationship with, which causes that person, or them, to avoid you.  In other words, your reactions are making matters worse.

I love this dream, because I can relate to it myself, in my life circumstances.  We often find our need for love, or relationships embarrassing because we think it means we are not complete in ourselves, which is true. We are all designed by God to only be complete immersed in God’s love.

Why did God give you this dream?  I would suggest it might be to help you see an issue more clearly that you are struggling with.  Showing it in this oddly personal way can help us see it through different eyes.  Possibly God is helping you heal and face relational issues differently.

I would challenge you to ‘lay down’ expectations on whatever relationship issue you are dealing with.  Accept the relationship as it is, accepting that person for who they are, and accepting the limitations they have in relating to you.  Rethink – speaking to them in that intense way the dream portrays.  Accept them as they are. Try to stop grieving things that cannot be.  No longer lament over them.  Read Ps 36 and Ps 23.  Fill relational voids in your life by understanding the depth of God’s love for you.

Heavy stuff.  I’ll be praying for you.
Marsha

 Readers:  This reply was emailed to the dreamer prior to posting.  An immediate response from the dreamer was received as follows:

 Dear Marsha,

Thank you so much. I guess I should really say thank you to God for giving me this dream.  I know exactly what this is about. I have been struggling with some family relationship problems.  I now know that I have a responsibility to not insist they fix themselves, but rather to work on my own reaction to it. God bless you.

L.L.

Dear L.L.
I repeat, I can relate very much to this dream, as I’m sure most readers can.  I’ll be praying for you.

Snails, Turtle and Elephant in Pants

Sn

Dear Marsha,

A really weird disconcerting dream occurred last night.  I’m embarrassed to even tell this, but maybe you can tell me what it’s about. Brace yourself. Here is the dream:

Scene 1:  I looked down and noticed a snail stuck to the crotch of my jeans.  I pulled it off.

Scene 2: I reached inside my pants and pulled out globs of large snails…all stuck together.  I also pulled out a small live elephant (cute looking) and also pulled out a turtle.

I woke up.

It was gross.  I don’t know what to think.  What in the world is this about?

K.D.

 Hi K.D
I’m laughing.  Not at the dream, but at your response.  It’s funny to see our dreams through worldly eyes.  So, let’s lay down the world and look at the dream spiritually and metaphorically.

In this dream, the symbol meanings are based on the characteristicsof the symbols.  The meanings may be as follows:

Snail: carrying a burden; hiding self in fear

Crotch: reproductive area or productiveness
Pants: productiveness
Live: currently living
Elephant: big impact
Cute looking: appears attractive and harmless
Turtle: carrying a burden; hiding self in fear

So, just for fun…let’s substitute the meanings for the symbols in your dream:

Scene 1:  I looked down and noticed carrying a burden stuck to productiveness.  I pulled it off.
Scene 2: I reached inside my productivenessand pulled out globs of large burdens and hiding in fear…all stuck together.  I also pulled out currently living big impact (appears attractive and harmless) and also pulled out a burden; hiding self in fear.

Alright….it doesn’t seem so gross and funny now.  Reading this, we can get a good understanding of what the dream is about.  I would paraphrase the interpretation:

The dreamer’s productiveness is affected by two things: the burdens the dreamer is carrying and the dreamer’s tendency to hide in fear.  Even though these burdens appear to be good and attractive, they are making a big impact in the dreamer’s ability to be productive.

K.D., I’ll take my “interpreter” hat off and give you a friendly suggestion.  If you are struggling with being productive in some work, or ministry, then you need to lighten your load by getting rid of some burdens, even though these burdens you’ve taken on may appear to be “good” and attractive.

Blessings,
Marsha Trimble Dunstan

Trying on Powers

Hi Marsha!

My son (age 11) has recently had 3 dreams.  One of which he has had several times now.  I was wondering if you would mind helping me with interpretation.  I have been able to get thoughts on the first 2, but the 3rd one is puzzling.

 Dream #1

My son found himself in a room where he was given the ability to try “powers”.  He said that when he tried them the power was poured over him. My son first tried fire, but he did not feel like that power fit him.  The next power that he tried was water and he felt that “power” fit him much better.  He stated that the “power” that he felt led to try next was flying.  Then his dream ended.

Dream #2

In the next dream, my son found himself with a group of kids who had been given new “powers”.  He said that none of these people knew how to use their powers yet either.  My son kept trying to control his “water”, but it kept slipping out of his hand.  He then encounters a girl who is teaching my son how to use his power.  She first teaches him how to make a ball out of the water – showing him how to control it.  She then teaches him how to breathe under the water.  My son finds himself at great peace there- loves it- finds himself without fear.  The two of them are then encountered by an enemy.  The girl is able to use the water via her hand (Like a stream bouncing from the body of water to her hand then reflected out to the enemy) to push back the enemy until he disappears.  My son tries, but his stream is tiny.  My son is then reminded of breathing in the water and he goes under for a while breathing in the water.  When he comes up, he tries his power (his stream is thicker and he can control it better, but it is still not as strong as the girl’s).

Dream #3

My son is fighting in a ring and has a wooden sword.  He is fighting opponents and is winning.  He wins against many, many opponents, but then fights a kid from school (I asked my son what this kid represented and he said that the kid is a “cool kid, very popular, very good looking with many friends”.  The kid has a different sword.  Fashioned out of metal with a glowing green core and a handle that was almost molten in the kid’s hand.  My son wanted the kid’s sword.  He asked his father for the sword and his dad brought it to him.  When my son looked at the sword he saw black lines running through it and knew instantly that it was evil and he told his father “I cannot take it!”

The 3rd dream my son has had twice, about a 9 months to a year apart.  I am having the most difficulty with this dream.  I am feeling it may be significant as he has had it twice.  I believe the first two speak to his gifting and the Holy Spirit and perhaps an authority in that area.  “Breathing in the spirit referring to soaking in the Holy Spirit?  Walking in that?

               Would love to hear your thoughts.  They will be a great encouragement to him as I have been trying to teach them that they can hear from God even as children.

 J.O.

Hi J.O. Marsha here!

I love it when our kids get dreams.  It is such a perfect way to start sow into them (as you are already doing) by teaching them they can hear from God, even as children.

             Remind your son that Samuel was around 12 years old (according to the Jewish historian Josephus) when he heard the voice of God calling him.  God definitely reaches out to our youngsters.
            On this same note: there is a wonderful CD by Recie Saunders called “Dreams Children & the Night Season that is a guide to help parents deal with prophetically gifted children’s dreams.  I met Recie at a John Paul Jackson class years ago (I doubt he would remember).  He is extremely gifted.  The CD is pretty basic, designed to help parents understand and nurture their children’s dreams.  I believe you are already doing so with your son. But for those of you who want to get this, according to the back of the CD, it is available at www.itinerantministryteam.com.

                Now, let’s look at your son’s dreams.

Then his dream ended

I’ve pulled out a few symbols to look at:

Powers =Gifts of the spirit

Fire     = Gift of the God’s Word in the mouth that consumes (2Sam 22:9, Jer 23:29); evangelical          gifting

Water = Pastoral gifting.  Watering and cleansing the sheep (John 4:14, Ps 23:2, Lev 11:33, 1Sam 7:6, Ps 66:12, Mt 3:11)

Flying = Prophetic gifting of going high in the spirit [air] (Eph 2:2)

 Inserting a variation of the symbols, the dream might be saying:

My son found himself in a place where he was given the ability to try out different spiritual gifts.  He said that when he tried them the power was poured over him. My son first tried the fire of evangelical speaking, but he did not feel like that power fit him.  The next power that he tried was a pastoral gifting where he is watering and cleansing the Lord’s sheep/people and he felt that “power” fit him much better.  He stated that the “power” that he felt led to try next was the prophetic gifting of going high in spiritual things.  Then his dream ended

Wow!  I love it.
This dream closely follows the verse of Mt 13:11: The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you.  Whoever has, will be given more, and he will have an abundance.  Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.  Your son found that when he stepped into the gifting, more was given “the power was poured over him.”  This is awesome.
I believe this dream is saying your son has a pastoral and prophetic gifting that he is learning about and experimenting with.

Powers = spiritual giftings

Group of kids who had been given new powers = others who are immature in their giftings

Hand = works

A girl who is teaching my son how to use his power = someone who is teaching son how to use his          gifting (especially as it relates to the pastoral [water])

Make a ball out of the water = a tool full of the Holy Spirit (air) to use in the game of life (playing               with self or others)

Breathe = ability to pull in spiritual things [air] (Ps 39:5)

Breath = spiritual things (Ps 39:5), Holy Spirit (Is 40:7, Ezk 37:9-10, John 20:22)

Breathe under the water = ability to pull from the Holy Spirit while in his pastoral gifting

Enemy = devil (Mt 13:25-28, Lk 10:19, Acts 13:10); or those who oppose (Exo 15:9, 1Sam 24:19)

Stream = ministry; life filled with God (Ps 23:2, 65:9)

Body of water = Word of God (Neh 9:15, Ps 73:10, Is 55:1, John 4:10-15)

Stream bouncing from the body of water to her hand = ministry filled with God coming from the              Word of God into her works

Rewrite of dream with symbol meanings:
In the next dream, my son found himself with others who are immature in their giftings.  He said that none of these people knew how to use their spiritual giftings yet either.  My son kept trying to control his pastoral gift, but it kept slipping out during his works.  He then encounters a girl who is teaching my son how to use his pastoral gifting.  She first teaches him how to make a tool full of the Holy Spirit to use in his interaction with his pastoral gifting – showing him how to keep it pure and of God.  She then teaches him how to pull in spiritual things while doing his pastoral gifting.  My son finds himself at great peace there- loves it- finds himself without fear.  The two of them are then encountered by one who is not of God (an attack of a devil or an attack from one who is opposed to what he is doing.)  The girl is able to use the Word of God in her works (a ministry filled with God coming from the Word of God into her works) then reflected out to the enemy) to push back the enemy until he disappears.  My son tries, but his use of the Word of God in his works is tiny.  My son is then reminded of using the Holy Spirit to get the Word of God and he goes under for a while using the Holy Spirit to receive the Word of God.  When he comes up, he tries his gifting (his ability and control is better, but it is still not as strong as the girl’s).

To paraphrase this:  Your son, along with others, are learning how to apply the Word of God through the Holy Spirit in their spiritual giftings.  Your son gets better with time and practice. Someone (probably a girl/woman) will come along in his life and help guide him.

Fighting = dealing with issues of life (1Tim 1:18, 6:12, 2Tim 4:7)

Ring = place where adversaries are met face to face

Sword = words (Is 49:2, Ps 57:4, 59:7, 64:3, Prov 12:18)

Wooden sword = natural words of man (Dt 28:64, Jer 2:27, 5:14, 2Tim 2:20-21)

A kid from school who is cool, popular, good looking, with lots of friends = peers who “are looked up to by others”

Sword of metal = words of man molded to be strong and powerful (Jer 6:27); test of strength

Glowing green core = the core or foundation is pride/envy/jealousy & spreads destruction (Lev 13:49, 14:37)

Handle molten in the hand = manipulation – ability to use it is appropriate (handle molten) to the result or work (hand) he wants done

Father = Father God

Black = evil (Is 59:9, 2Pet 2:17)

My son is face to face dealing with issues of life and is using natural words of man in his battling. He is fighting opponents and is winning.  He wins against many, many opponents, but then fights peers who are looked up to by others. The kid has a different way of speaking.  Fashioned out of words of man molded to be strong and powerful.  But its foundation is pride/envy/jealousy and spreads destruction.  The kid uses it to manipulate others.  My son wanted the kid’s way of speaking.  He asked God for the ability to speak that way and God gave it to him.  When my son looked at it he saw evil lines coming off of it and knew instantly that it was evil and he told God “I cannot take it!”

To paraphrase the third dream:

While dealing with face-to-face conflict with peers, your son naturally does pretty well on his own and uses words in an effective way.  However, he did (or will) go through a phase where he might want (for his reasons) decides to mimic someone else’s manipulation tactics. This is someone who is looked up to by peers.  Your son will see it’s wrong and go back to God’s way of doing things.

J.O., to summarize all of this, I think you are raising an amazing 11 year-old boy.  He is going through the proper training of learning of his gifts and learning how to grow in favor with God and man.  He will make some mistakes, as we all do, but he will come through it well.

I know from what else was said in your email that he is “under attack” right now from the enemy.  I will, and I encourage all readers out there…..to pick this up and pray safety for him.  And, pray that any plans of the enemy be thwarted by our loving Father God.

God bless you and your son

Ironing Board outside Window

Dear Marsha,
Here is a dream I just had.  Can you tell me what you believe it might be saying?
Denise

Scene 1:  I was on the top floor of a building doing some ironing on an ironing board.  Outside the window there were two more ironing boards.  When I finished the one I was working on, a new one came through the window for me to use.

Scene 2:  I was with a group of people and I realized “who” the next leaders of the group were going to be.  This had not been announced and apparently it wasn’t time to announce them yet.  I made the mistake of introducing them as the next leaders.  “Oh no!” I said.  I was afraid I was going to be in trouble.  But, they were not upset with me.

Hi  Denise,  Marsha here!
The metaphoric symbols in this dream is good to know.

1. Top floor of building = level you have reached in your work or ministry   (the top level)  [You’re doing what you are called or supposed to be doing]

2. Doing some ironing = “ironing” out some issues…[resolving some wrinkles or problems – possibly of others]

3. Window = ability to see using revelation/ seeing beyond (Gen 7:11, 8:2, 26:8, 2Kgs 7:2, 7:19, Prov 7:6-23, Is 24:18)

4. Two = two, or division issues, more

So, in substituting the symbols into the dream it might say:

Scene 1:  I was doing what I’m called or supposed to be doing resolving some wrinkles or problems – possibly of others.  With an ability to see using revelation there were two/or problems relating to division/or even more resolving of problems  When I finished the one I was working on, a new one came through ability to see using revelation for me to use.

Denise:  What does this mean?  I would say:

Through revelatory (God-given revelation) you are able to resolve problems (probably of others).  As fast as you are doing it, more and more revelation is coming to you.

There is a situation in dealing with “others” when you mistakenly tell something you probably shouldn’t have, but it’s okay.  You are harder on yourself than others.

          I believe this is the Lord telling you “You are and will continue to receive revelation in your work.  Don’t be hard on yourself for any errors.   You are doing a good job!”     I may have added the “good job” part myself…but it follows the character and nature of our beloved God.

Buying a Wedding Veil

Marsha, Here is a dream I had on October 13th, 2015.  What do you think it means?  Jill

I was going to renew my wedding vows and wanted something for my head. For my original wedding I had worn flowers that my father had grown, but that wasn’t an option now. My sister and I went to a shop that sold all kinds of things.  I wore my wedding dress to get the full effect. (It had been my mother’s…40’s style with a sweetheart neckline and drop waist.) While my sister was getting a massage, I looked around in the next room. Because of the style of the dress, I tried on a couple of hats, but they didn’t seem right.

A sales lady suggested a veil and I latched on to that idea.  She showed me several bolts of lace, but the colors were off.  I wanted the veil to match the dress.  She ignored that request and immediately started making a veil from one of the darker shades of ivory lace and was trimming it with brown flowers.

When I realized what she was doing, I tried to stop her. “NO”, I said, “I didn’t have a veil before, I should get what I want. It should match the dress….and the flowers shouldn’t be brown!!!”

I call my sister into the room for reinforcement.  In the end, I don’t know if I got that veil or not.  I did apologize for yelling at the sales lady, though.

Hi Jill.  Marsha here!

Lots of people get wedding dreams.  They are often about “covenantal relationships” involved between the two people in the dream.  Remember it’s all symbolic.  Who is the bridegroom in the Bible?  Jesus!  Who is the bride?  The church…us!  So let’s look at this dream and see where it takes us.

Symbols:

Wedding vows: covenantal relationship

Head: authority (who has authority/or covering over you)

Flowers: blessings

That my father had grown:  God’s provision

Sister: sister in Christ, real sister, other family member

Massage: her flesh catered to

Couple of hats: authority over or covering over

Sales lady: someone trying to “sell” you on something

Veil: filtered; possibly filtered with legalism

Colors were “off”:  off-color or not right

Darker shades: things not of God

Brown:  worldly humanity issues/ compassion issues

Dress = religious system are in

Veil should match the dress:  filter should be clean (white/pure)

Yelling at the sales lady:  responding too strongly to someone trying to “sell”    you on something

Okay.  Now inputting these symbol-meanings into the dream, might look like this:

I was going to renew mycovenantal relationship and wanted to get proper authority or covering over me.  Originally, I was adorned in blessings from God, but (that wasn’t an option now) I now need to be actively taking a hand in this myself. My sister in Christ and I went to (a shop) where we can choose to receive different coverings to be under.  I (wore my wedding dress) was prepared to receive only what I am already committed to (the original covenantal relationship). (It had been my mother’s…40’s style with a sweetheart neckline and drop waist.) It came to me from my “source” or background. While my sister in Christ was getting (a massage) catered to in the flesh, I looked around in (the next room) a different area. Because of the (style of the dress) religious system I am in I tried on a couple of (hats) coverings, but they didn’t seem right.

(A sales lady[MD1] suggested a veil) someone suggested looking at things filtered and I latched on to that idea.  She showed me (several bolts of lace) several beautiful earthly things tied up in knots and twists, but (the colors were off) it was not right and off-color.  I wanted the (veil to match the dress) twists and filtered way of looking at things to match the covenantal relationship I am in.  She ignored that request and immediately started making a (veil from one of the darker shades of ivory lace) filtered way of viewing things that are lovely but Not of God and was trimming it with (brown flowers)blessings from humanism and compassion.

When I realized what she was doing, I tried to stop her. “NO”, I said, (“I didn’t have a veil before, I should get what I want. It should match the dress….and the flowers shouldn’t be brown!!!”) I want a way of viewing things that matches my covenantal relationship I’m already in and that are not worldly and just out of compassion, but are of God.

I call my sister in Christ into the room for reinforcement.  In the end, I don’t know if I got that veil or not.  I didapologize for (yelling at the sales lady), reacting inappropriately too strongly though.

Okay, what’s this about?

I’d say this dream might be showing that the dreamer is already a Christian (having gone through a wedding) but is trying to establish a strong spiritual covering over herself.  She is looking at things the church, or those claiming to be of the church, are offering her out there and their various bents on things.  Some of these teachings are being pushed on her but the dreamer realizes they are not of God, and in fact are just extending compassion and earthly actions.  She stops listening to it, probably a little too enthusiastically, and is a little repentant her strong objection may have been inappropriate.

This dream may be speaking of the dreamer’s good discernment in what the dreamer is hearing and responding to.  A little tweaking may need to be done in her responses though.

God is ever faithful!

Late for High School

I dreamed I was going to be late to high school. It was after 1pm so my English class had already started.  I called the school office to let them know I’d be late and left a message.  However, then I got busy with my job and never left.  I had a bunch of mail to get ready to send out, so I started stuffing things in envelopes and moistening them with one of two wet sponges.  Then I took a large envelope that had come in to the comptroller.  Someone had sent her and 8 ½ X 11” Hershey Bar.

End of my dream.  In real life I am in my 60’s, so I’m not in high school.  Also, I do not stuff envelopes for my job.  What does this mean?

J:

Marsha here:  Hi J:

Let’s look at the symbols first:

High school:  learning higher level things

1 = God

English class = if you are American (or another English-speaking country), this might mean communication with others

Busy = distracted with other things

Comptroller = management supervising quality of accounting ; authority over accountability

                                 (accounting = being “accountable” for actions)

8 = new beginnings

11 = revelation

Hershey bar = sweet things to “feed upon” or learn

Now, what or who is the Focus of the dream?

The Focus is YOU.

So, what or who are the Sub-focuses of the dream?  Or, to clarify, what or who…if they were not in the dream would cause the dream to not exist?

I believe the Sub-focuses are:  High School,   Concerned about being Late

So all else are details.  Let’s look at this:

Focus:  You

Sub-Focus:   High School                       Concerned about being Late

Details:   English class (way to communicate with others)

1 pm (God)

Comptroller = an authority (probably a woman “she”) who is an authority                                                            over accountability issues

8 = new beginnings

Busy = distracted

                                Describes what you are “busy” distracted by:  Job, mail, envelopes.

The Focus and the Sub-Focuses pretty much say what the dream is about:

You are concerned you are late in learning of higher level (or spiritual) things.

Wow!   Quick and easy, by just looking at the Focus and Sub-Focus.   The details add enrichment as to what you will be learning on this higher level, and why you are late getting the teachings.  The higher level of learning includes how to talk to others/communicate with others.  It is after God.   You are distracted by such things as work.  But even in your distraction, you witness someone with authority over accountability issues receive new beginnings and revelation of sweet things (teachings).

So, to paraphrase the interpretation, I would say:

You feel you have been missing out on spiritual teachings because you’ve been distracted by such things as work.  But even in your distraction, you witness an authority over action accountability who receives new beginnings and revelation of sweet teachings.

Cruise in a light blue dress

Marsha,

I’d like to send you another dream.

Thankx,
DY

Hello DY,
I’m glad you sent this dream.  I want to remind the readers that you sent the last dream also that was very long (seven scenes) titled: Walk Beyond Closed City.  These two dreams appear to be very different, but when broken down and interpreted are really pretty much the same dream.  Interesting, huh?
I thought this would be a great follow-up to the long dream previously posted.  So here goes.
Marsha

Dream:
I was going on a cruise by myself.  On my way to the ship I crossed over a high bridge.  Hung from the bridge was a VERY LONG, light blue dress.  It was simply but formal.  I knew it was mine.  It rained and the dress got wet.  The bottom of it reached a river that turned brown from the rain so the very bottom of the dress got dirty.  As I entered the ship the dress was wrinkled.  I was excited and anxious to get to my cabin but the doors I needed to enter were all closed.  They were like elevator doors. As they opened there was an elderly couple there.  I let them go first.  I was anxious but patient.  As I entered the doorway I realized I forgot my things-dress, purse, cruise ticket.  I went back and it was there.  I explained to a young woman that my dress got wet.

Marsha here.  I’m going to restate the dream inserting some of the symbol meanings:
I was going on a cruise by myself (a journey moving with the flow of the Lord you are taking alone) On my way to the ship (large ministry of God)  I crossed over a high bridge (high in the spirit time of transition). Hung from the bridge (during this transition period waiting for you) was a VERY LONG (of great magnitude), light blue (man’s spirit) dress (defines who you are).  It was simply but formal (of the Lord without pretense).  I knew it was mine.  It rained  (trials came) and the dress got wet (your spirit was affected by the trials).  The bottom of it reached a river that turned brown from the rain (affected by a movement of God that turned towards humanity / or away from God)  so the very bottom of the dress got dirty (this affected your spirit causing it to question God).  As I entered the ship the dress was wrinkled (spirit walk needed smoothing out).  I was excited and anxious to get to my cabin (excited to find your place in God’s large ministry) but the doors (opportunities)I needed to enter were all closed.  They were like elevator doors (opportunities to rise to a higher level).As they opened there was an elderly couple there (couple of people with God’s maturity and wisdom).  I let them go first.  I was anxious but patient.  As I entered the doorway I realized I forgot my things-dress, purse, cruise ticket (feel you are not prepared).  I went back and it was there (trying to become prepared).  I explained to a young woman that my dress got wet (trying to justify/explain your past trials).
Now, to paraphrase the meanings, I believe this is a summary of the dream’s meaning. This dream is the same as the first, larger dream.
While you are on a spiritual journey to grow and to prepare you for a place in God’s large ministry, you encounter trials that affect you deeply, even affecting your spirit.  It causes you to go back (or look back at such things as finances (purse) and “who you are in Christ” (dress) and whether you have God’s permission to go forth (cruise ticket).   You do it, but feel you need to justify some of your past to others.
 Note: this is very common to have many dreams, seemingly different, but they are all saying the same thing.  God keeps trying to get the message into us.  Sometimes (especially if you are me) it takes awhile.
Keep dreaming!
Marsha

Walk Beyond Closed City

Hi Marsha,

This one is long and a bit…”convoluted.” -lol.  I hope you’re ready.  (:
 Thankx,
 DY

The Dream:
 Scene 1:
I was wandering around a ‘closed’ city looking for the place where my belongings were.  I went in with someone (?) but couldn’t find the location. I knew the place but couldn’t find it.
 Scene 2:
Walking around with a friend’s dog.  I see the place off in the far distance, about a block away, to the ‘right’ (It was like being on a Hollywood set from back in the 20’s with a dirt road and buildings on both sides of the road.  The door where my things were located was black).  I knew I couldn’t take the dog there.
Scene 3:
Two pickup trucks go up in the air as though a bomb went off but no bomb.  It was kind of like they spun in a whirlwind but there was no whirlwind.  One truck landed on its side.  It was champagne color.  I knew help was needed to ‘right’ the truck.  Two guys showed up.  One fixed the truck.
Scene 4:
I’m in a place like a mall going to an ATM for money.  The person with me is expecting me to give him a certain amount of money.  It’s his machine and his money.  I’m just asked to retrieve it for him.  After I retrieved the amount he requested, coins begin pouring out like crazy.  I gave him the cash he requested plus the coins.  He paused, then entrusted me with a black garbage bag filled with money.  There’s another bag filled with belongings from the truck.
Scene 5:
We’re outside.  A woman walks over asking for help.  She looks like someone I know.  In the dream I knew who she was but I wasn’t 100% certain when I woke up and began writing.  My thought was that it was my daughter’s friend Kim.  Her mascara was running.  I’m unable to help her but I offer to pray.  The man holding the bag seems surprised but glad.  She sits down on the ground (in the dirt) and as I pray coins begin falling in front of her.  I remind her that the coins aren’t hers and she should be honest.
Scene 6:
(My notes say “out of order?” There was so many parts to this dream that the following paragraph may have happened before the previous one)
Back to the closed city I recognized the building where my belongings were.  I walked through the door.  It all looked familiar.  I walked right to where my things were.
Scene 7:
I’m rewarded with the champagne colored pickup truck (the one from the whirlwind) and it’s like brand new.  On top of the cab is lots of sod; so much that it’s hanging over on one side.  It seems like a good thing.  Next I’m standing in a restaurant next to a male and I’m dressed as a hostess.  The table is ready for the guests and I’m just taking it all in; proud, like I own the restaurant.

Hi DY,  Marsha here:
Thank you for sending this long convoluted dream.  I usually post shorter ones because these go on and on and the readers may lose interest, or be overwhelmed.   But, I believe I should post a few of these long ones to let you readers out there know that this is a “typical Christian dream”.   Christian dreams are usually very long and convoluted.  They can be overwhelming.  So let’s use this one as a learning tool.
 FIRST: The first thing we do is look at the beginning of the dream (the first couple of sentences) and the end of the dream (the last couple of sentences).
OKAY….the BEGINNING of the dream is:
I was wondering around a ‘closed’ city looking for the place where my belongings were.   I went in with someone but couldn’t find the location.
Now, the END of the dream:
I’m standing in a restaurant next to a male and I’m dressed as a hostess.  The table is ready for the guests and I’m just taking it all in; proud, like I own the restaurant.
This kind of summarizes the dream.   Just looking at these two pieces and applying their symbols, they might mean:

You are having to leave your “baggage from the past” (belongings) behind  (can’t find them) and you are later in a place where you are ministering to others, (feeding them) which means offering them good teachings.

SECOND:  Let’s look at the full dream and figure out what it’s saying.   Because it’s so long, I’m going to do this by scene.
 Scene 1:
I was wandering around a ‘closed’ city (place of living that is now closed off to you) looking for (pondering or looking back at) the place where my belongings (my past baggage/issues) were.  I went in with someone (at my side is a “friend”) but couldn’t find the location (can’t go back to that old place). I knew the place but couldn’t find it.
Summary Scene 1:  You are looking back at a place that is now closed off to you.
Scene 2:
Walking around with a friend’s (Jesus/ a friend) dog (follower).  I see the place off in the far distance, about a block away, to the ‘right’ (It was like being on a Hollywood set from back in the 20’s with a dirt road and buildings on both sides of the road.  The door where my things were located was black (not of God).  I knew I couldn’t take the dog there.
Summary Scene 2: You have someone that is with you that is a follower of Jesus.  You don’t want to take this person to those dark areas.
Scene 3:
Two (2) pickup trucks (ministry or works that are able to traverse difficult terrains) go up in the air (fast spiritual change) as though a bomb went off but no bomb.  It was kind of like they spun in a whirlwind but there was no whirlwind.  One truck (one ministry / work) landed on its side (went on the side line).  It was champagne color (spiritual hue).  I knew help was needed to ‘right’ the truck (right the ministry).  Two guys (angels/ men) showed up.  One fixed the truck (one fixed the ministry/work).
Summary Scene 3: This scene deals with ministry issue.
You have seen 2 ministries/or works that designed to handle people in difficult circumstances.  One of these is a spiritual ministry and it was put on the sideline.  Someone tried to help and someone (maybe the Lord) actually did help and brought the spiritual ministry on track.
Scene 4:
I’m in a place like a mall (life situation) going to an ATM for money (how you keep and deal with your finances).  The person with me (friend/Jesus/Holy Spirit) is expecting me to give him a certain amount of money (expectation of tithe/offerings).  It’s his machine and his money. (Lord’s money)   I’m just asked to retrieve it for him.  After I retrieved the amount he requested (obeyed money commands), coins begin pouring out like crazy (financial blessings came pouring out like crazy).  I gave him the cash he requested plus the coins (tried to give the Lord back some of the extra blessings).  He paused, then entrusted me with a black garbage bag filled with money (in response the Lord gave even more blessings)   There’s another bag filled with belongings from the truck (also blessings from the ministry).

Summary Scene 4:  This scene deals with money issues.
Regarding dealing with your financial issues, the Lord expects you to give tithe and offerings.  When you do this, you are crazily blessed by the Lord.

Scene 5:
We’re outside.  A woman walks over asking for help  (women needing help).  She looks like someone I know (women who you know- who are in your everyday life).  In the dream I knew who she was but I wasn’t 100% certain when I woke up and began writing.  My thought was that it was my daughter’s friend Kim (women younger (more immature in the Lord who you are mentoring).  Her mascara was running (their mask/makeup is coming apart – they are dealing with difficulty).  I’m unable to help her (on your own, you are unable to help) but I offer to pray (through prayer you are very helpful) .  The man holding the bag seems surprised but glad (Lord is glad).  She sits down on the ground (in the dirt) (in things of the world) and as I pray coins begin falling in front of her (blessing befalls her/them).  I remind her that the coins aren’t hers and she should be honest (speak into them of the Lord’s mercy and grace).
Summary Scene 5:  This scene deals with your individual efforts to help others. You are anointed to pray for hurting women.  Through your prayers they will be helped greatly.  You will be speaking the Lord’s mercy and grace into their lives.
Scene 6:
Back to the closed city I recognized the building where my belongings were.  I walked through the door.  It all looked familiar.  I walked right to where my things were.
Summary Scene 6:  This scene says now you are able to look back at your old stuff.  After you’ve experienced the things God is doing in your life, you are able to look back and evaluate your past.
Scene 7:
I’m rewarded with the champagne colored pickup truck (spiritual ministry that is tough and able to handle hard stuff) and it’s like brand new.  On top of the cab is lots of sod(grass = people/  sod = people who are ready and primed for planting) ; so much that it’s hanging over on one side.  It seems like a good thing(a good thing) .  Next I’m standing (on solid foundation) in a restaurant (place where teachings [food] are presented to others) next to a male (Jesus/Holy Spirit) and I’m dressed (have a covering) as a hostess (one who is providing to others).  The table (place of communion)is ready for the guests and I’m just taking it all in; proud, like I own the restaurant.

Summary Scene 7:   This scene speaks of your calling.  You will be in charge of a strong tough spiritual ministry that will provide good teachings to others.
 A synopsis of these scenes and a total summary of the dream interpretation is as follows:
You needed to leave your own baggage behind for a season while you experienced things in order to prepare you for your calling.  Some of the things you will be (or did) experience are discernment with others, ministry problems, financial alignment especially as it relates to tithing and offerings, and an intercessory prayer ministering to others.  After a time, you were (will be) able to look back and deal with your past.  Your calling is a spiritual ministry where you are in charge of providing good teachings to others and preparing them to become planted.

This dream is a good one to show how to break down the meanings.  And how to look at the beginning and the end and quickly summarize the dream.  If you go back to the beginning and the end of this dream, you can see that the meaning is very close to the final dream interpretation synopsis.  Fascinating how that works!!!
God Bless You,
Marsha

Helicopter Towing Bench

Marsha, Here is a strange one, involving a helicopter which has a tow rope attached to it.  The tow rope is then attached to a metal picnic bench, which I and a few others are sitting at.  It then starts to tow us down the street, but not lifting us up in the air.  I noticed that down this snow covered street there is houses and chain link fences in front of us, and I am telling everyone to get off as I try to cut the rope.   Just before the helicopter starts to pull us I ask Rex ( a person older man that I go to church with) if he is going to get on.  He says “ No, I don’t think so”, and we are around water and a boat .

That’s it.  What does this mean?

M.W.

Hi there!
A  good place to start is with the symbols. Here are some possible meanings for the symbols:

Helicopter = ministry gets off the ground quickly (note: If a vehicle is a ministry/work; and a plane is a ministry or work high in the spirit (air); then a helicopter is a ministry/work that is high in the spirit and gets off the ground quickly).

Tow = pulling along

Rope = in service to/committed to (Num 4:26); bound/committed to (Ps 119:61, Eze 3:25);  not quickly broken (Eze 4:8, Eccl 4:12)

Metal =  people (Jer 6:27)

Picnic bench = being “fed” is “benched”

Up in air = high in Holy Spirit (Is 66:15, Eze 37:9, John 3:8)

Snow = times that are cold

Street  = pathway / direction you are going (Jer 31:21)

Chain = bound (Ps 107:10, Is 52:2, Jer 40:1-4, Eph 6:20, Rev 20:1-2); cords of affliction/affliction/oppression (Job 36:8, Col 4:18); weighed down (Lam 3:7)

Link = linked to

Fence = barrier / hindrance (Ps 62:3, Acts 17:26)

Rex = Royalty/ those who are royal/God

Water = Word of God (Neh 9:15, Ps 73:10, Is 55:1, John 4, Eph 5:26, Rev 7:17)

Boat = earthly & spiritual movement/ ministry (Mt 13:2)

So, tossing symbols into the dream and asking the Holy Spirit to speak to us reveals the following:

INTERPRETATION

You and others are “benched” from being fed (receiving good teachings) and pulled along, bound to a ministry that got off the ground quickly but does not go high in the Holy Spirit.  This ministry pulled you along a cold pathway that was bound and linked to barriers.  You asked someone of Royalty/God if he was with you in it and he said “No”. Then you see the word of God and earthly & spiritual movement.

M.W.
Now, keep in mind this dream does NOT say the work is bad.  It just says it does not go high in the Holy Spirit and you are not being fed well.   The Lord is gentle and gracious in guiding us.

German shepherd peeing on plant

Marsha, I had the following dream:

A German shepherd was peeing on a potted plant on my front porch.

It was definitely my front porch. Direct colors etc. were: daytime, probably afternoon because it was light but no direct sun. Only thing different was the plant he peed on was on the left side of my porch instead of the right where I always keep it. He was actually peeing on the plant itself not just the outside of the planter.  I felt it was a male dog.  I didn’t look to make sure.  He had pretty standard shepherd markings and colors.

Anyway, in the dream, I opened my front door and he was just standing there tongue hanging out of his mouth with his leg raised over my plant.  He wasn’t malevolent but not afraid of me either when I opened the door.  He just looked up at me with his tongue hanging out of the side of his mouth and kept peeing.

 Then I woke up before he finished.   Why couldn’t the first dream I remember be of butterflies and rainbows?

Thanks for your help,  R.A.

Dear R.A.,

I guess God gives us the dreams He wants us to have, not the “butterflies” we’d prefer.  Anyway, let’s look at this one.
A German shepherd was peeing on a potted plant on my front porch.

The symbols are as follows:

German:  foreign or not of God (Josh 24:23, Zeph 1:8) (note: this does NOT mean that     Germans are not of God.  However, for you…through the information you      provided, you are NOT German, therefore, this is “foreign” to you.  ANY culture      not yours is “foreign” to you.  And the biblical interpretation of “foreign” is “Not of God”.

Shepherd:

  • protector, leader (2Sam 5:2, Is 40:00, Exe 34:1-10, Zec 10:2-3, John 10:12, 1 Kgs 22:17, 1Chro 11:2, Jer 3:14, 6:3, 50:6),
  • priest (Jer 3:15, 23:1-4, Eze 34:1-10);
  • one who takes care of the flock (Eze 34:1-19, John 10:12)

Peeing = is releasing / sending out toxins (Lev 8:16)

Pot =

  • Holy (Zec 1, 14:21);
  • vessel of offering (Jdg 6:19, 1Sam 2:13-14, 2Chron 34:13);
  • man (Jer 22:28);
  • power in simple overlooked weapons (Judg 7:15);
  • used in service (Jer 52:18)

Plant =

  • growth/ own home (2Sam 7:10);
  • place (Jer 31:27);
  • people’s roots (Ps 44:2, Jer24:6);
  • begin (2Kgs 19:26, Is 40:24);
  • people (2Kgs 19:26)

Front porch =  revealed / open for viewing; public viewing

Substituting the metaphors, it says:

A (foreign-German) not of God  protector, leader, priest, one who takes care of the flock  (shepherd) is releasing toxins (peeing) onto your holy, vessel of offering, growth (plant) on your revealed, open for viewing, public viewing (porch).

To paraphrase:

A leader/ priest/ protector is infecting your spiritual growth with toxic things that are not of God.  This is being done publicly.

Ouch!  So why did the Lord give you this dream?  Possibly it is to show you that a person you are dealing with is not spiritually good for you.  God is looking out for you. He wants you to be aware of what is happening.
